12 March 2013 - Frickley Athletic v Athersley Recreation

Third time lucky for us as our previous two Match Of The Day features were postponed en-route to Westfield Lane.  This is a football ground that has an old fashioned, traditional feel, something we wish there were more of amongst the community based stadia with a modern day "feel".  Our first visit to cover a match and hopefully not the last. This wasn't our only meeting with the club from WF9 as we were to meet again (unbeknown at the time) at Hillsborough in May.

**Special Thanks To Steve Pennock (Frickley Athletic)**

Michael Trench then scored a 103rd minute winner, again from the penalty spot to put Dinnington Town through, 3-2 after extra time.

Walking Out For The Second Half

"Seen It All Before"

Without supporters like these, who braved the arctic temperatures to stand a watch a match between two clubs who struggle to attract a three figure crowd, every penny through the door is vitally important.  Earlier in the season, Teversal came to Phoenix Park and beat the home side 6-1.  Tonight was revenge, which was served up almost freezing, not just cold.

Teversal On The Offensive ...

Teversal, 0-2 down with less than fifteen minutes to play, push players forward in the hope of  stealing a goal.

The Goalkeeper's Sister ...

Kelly, the Dinnington Town goalkeeper's sister. Go back to photograph 07 and you'll see Kelly paying at the turnstile.  Supporting her brother, she regularly attends matches, regardless of weather and opponents.  Unfortunately on this occasion, Kelly brought no luck as her brother lies beaten from a Colin Cockerill free-kick to make the score Dinnington Town 2 Teversal 1.

"The Three, Become Two"

Hardcore Dinnington Town supporters pose for the No Clash Of Colours camera, little were they to know that the thumbs-up sign wasn't enough to see their club through in normal time. Thirty seconds later, Teversal equalied to make it 2-2 and take the match into extra time.

The Matchday Programme ...

May not figure on the most sought after programme lists, but tonight, Dinnington Town completely sold out of programmes. A collector's item ?
