20 April 2013 - Scarborough Athletic v Retford United [Set One]

Competition : Northern Counties East League - Premier Division
Result : Scarborough Athletic 2 Retford United 0
Attendance : 890

What a day! After being asked by Scarborough Athletic Chairman, Dave Holland if we'd like to cover the Seadog's final home match of the 2012/13 NCEL season, we didn't hesitate in accepting and looked forward to our first ever visit to Bridlington Town's ground, Queensgate, the tenant's home since 2007. Knowing promotion would be guaranteed if results went their way, a bumper crowd of 890 turned up with expectations high.

This is the first of two sets of photographs from what was an eventful, emotional and eventually, a successful end to a season where The Seadogs of Scarborough Athletic finally gained promotion to the Evo-Stik League.

At the same time, Barton Town Old Boys had pulled another goal back and were now losing 2-3 at home to Brighouse Town. An 85th Tim Taylor equaliser for BTOB would ensure that the Championship and promotion would be guaranteed if 'Boro could hold on to the lead.
