07 May 2013 - Sheffield FC [U21] v Dronfield Town FC [U21]

Our first year of non league, grassroots, women's and junior football photography features was almost drawing to a close, this was the No Clash Of Colours 77th feature from our debut season. One of the most exciting matches we were fortunate to cover was this Under 21 Meadowhall League Cup Final, held on a bright and warm spring evening at the superb ProAct Stadium, the home of Chesterfield FC.

Sheffield FC and their Under-21 counterparts from Dronfield Town served up some cracking football in a local derby that will be remembered for years by those that were there.  With both clubs beating each other in the League, it wasn't an easy match to predict. In the semi-finals, Sheffield FC had beaten Greasborough FC [U21] 5-4 after extra time, Dronfield Town had put five goals past Woodhouse JFC without conceding. Within a week of the defeat tonight, the U21 side from Dronfield Town would be celebrating the winning of the League.

06 May 2013 - Louth Town v Thackley AFC

The 2012/13 Northern Counties East League Cup Final was played on May Day Bank Holiday at Inkersall Road, the home of Staveley Miners Welfare.  Louth Town of Division One were on the back of a three match winning run, a semi-final victory over Premier Division [Click Here >>] Nostell Miners Welfare, which NCOC covered earlier in the season. Their opponents, the holders of the trophy,  The "Dennyboys" from Thackley AFC, two days previous had been beaten 2-5 at home to Bridlington Town, not an ideal preparation for a Cup Final.  To earn their place in the Cup Final, the club from Bradford had previously beaten the NCEL Premier League Champions, Scarborough Athletic 6-0 in the quarter finals and Worksop Parramore 2-0 only last week in the second semi-final. This was also the final match of Thackley's manager Vince Brockie reign at Dennyfield, his adversary in the "Battle of The Dugouts" was Darryl Clare, former Grimsby Town and Northampton Town player. There could only be one winner!
