22 April 2013 - Askern Villa v Albion Sports

The relegation of Askern Welfare was all but confirmed as Albion Sports ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. This was our second visit to Manor Way, we were there to see the other NCEL Division One promotion contender, Athersley Recreation. That day Askern Villa defeated the visitors 3-1 which was their last ever victory in the NCEL, those days though had long since gone and the club was almost at the end of a miserable 27 match losing streak. The return fixture saw Albion Sports run out 9-1 winners and after less than thirty minutes, that score looked not only achievable but possibly bettered.

92 Plus 1 - 92 Clubs In 92 Hours.

Something a little different for us at No Clash Of Colours, but something we hope everyone who reads will help publicise too via any aspect of social media.  92 Plus 1 is a four day epic road trip across the country, starting off at Wembley Stadium and finishing at the same venue four days later. We ask and request that everybody who reads this contacts their local Football League club, their local tv, radio and newspaper, pass on the information onto everyone you know who too have a passion for football.

Read On .. Leave Your Comments .. Get Involved.

Team Prepare To Kick-Off Club Challenge

92 clubs in 92 hours – that’s the challenge a team faces when it aims to visit all Football League grounds to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.  The four-man squad will leave Wembley Stadium after England’s World Cup qualifier with Montenegro on Friday October 11 and aim to be back in time for the game where Roy Hodgson’s men take on Poland on Tuesday, October 15.

They will all take turns at driving their 2,600-mile route, collecting donations along the way. Two of the team have military experience – Darren Young served with the Royal Air Force while Mark Burns is a serving member of HM Armed Forces as well as being a coach at Swindon Town FC Academy. Football fans and businessmen Simon Cox and Mike Peters complete the starting line-up.

All four have two things in common – a love of the beautiful game and a passion for raising money for worthwhile causes.

Darren, from Norfolk, said: “After serving in the Royal Air Force Fire Service for 16 years, I decided I needed to give something back to my country.  “I am now a college lecturer working with the next generation; however, these learners have inspired me to help people who need my help more.”

Mark, from Wiltshire, said: “I have served throughout the world and in more recent years have unfortunately had to witness the devastating consequences of front line combat on our troops. They have been left with devastating injuries that have an effect long after leaving the front line. “Help for Heroes is a fantastic charity that supports our troops and is something my wife has been involved raising money for throughout the years and is a charity that I felt I personally wanted to do something for.

“This is where the charity event 92 Plus 1 came to light and was something that I just had to get involved with. “With my forces background and my absolute love of the beautiful game this was the ideal way of mixing both work and pleasure to raise money for a worthwhile cause.”

Simon, from Wellingborough, said: “I am football mad and passionate about the game. I have always wanted to do this challenge and visit the 92 Football League clubs in the country and can't wait for October!  “I enjoy raising money for charities and knowing that we can make a difference to those that have helped to protect us adds more excitement to the challenge.”

Mike, from Milton Keynes, said: “I am fortunate enough to have played the game and am now running my own business.  “As a football lover this challenge caught my attention and Help for Heroes is a worthy charity.  “I am hoping the football community will come together and support this challenge.”

Bryn Parry, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Help for Heroes, said: “Help For Heroes was launched to raise money to help support our wounded.  “We appealed to the public to get out there and ‘do your bit’.  “The 92 Plus 1 challenge will see dedicated football fans and supporters of Help for Heroes undertake an epic 2,600-mile drive around the country to raise money for the charity.  “We will be able to use the money raised to provide practical, direct support to those who suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses while serving our country.”

Many football clubs have already pledged their support for the challenge – called 92 Plus 1, with Wembley Stadium being the extra one – and it is hoped more will get on board to help the team reach their goal.

The group welcomes any sponsorship individuals, football clubs or businesses can offer. It is particularly keen to hear from anyone who has a vehicle they could use to get them through their route.

Anyone who would like to assist in any way can check out their website,

"Freestyle Football Fanatic Takes To Wembley Stadium" : Manisha Tailor

No Clash Of Colours are again very pleased to add another feature written by one of our followers on twitter, Manisha Tailor [@ManishaTailor1]. Manisha has written three previous articles which have received excellent comments and have proved extremely popular amongst our readers.  This is her latest article, enjoy and leave a comment.

Freestyle Football Fanatic Takes To Wembley Stadium

“Don’t Call Me Crazy”, a hard hitting and true account of young people suffering from a diverse range of mental health problems.  “Don’t Call Me Crazy”, illustrates lives of inpatients’ at a teenage mental health unit. “Don’t Call Me Crazy”, a mental health awareness season produced by the BBC.  “Don’t Call Me Crazy”, something Football Freestyler Matt Wolstenholme knows all about.

Matt Wolstenholme, a 31 year old Londoner, suffered from depression; therefore raising awareness of Mental Health and supporting associated charities is extremely close to his heart. At present he is gearing up to do keepy-uppies around the perimeter of Wembley Stadium BUT whilst walking BACKWARDS (I can’t even do this whilst ‘walking’, let alone walk backwards!)

Wolstenholme currently holds the world record for ‘longest distance juggling a football’ at 20km, and will perform the challenging feat on August 16th to raise money for Health Charity ‘MIND’. ‘Mind’ provides a valuable source of support and advice.  Please visit : click here > MIND to find out more.

Speaking from personal experience Wolstenholme said:  “Depression is something I’ve struggled with for a number of years, so I know from personal experience how debilitating mental illness can be.  It’s a pleasure to be able to raise money for Mind”.

On how he is feeling towards the upcoming challenge:  “I’m really excited about the challenge – it’s not something you do every day. Luckily I’ll have a few people there to help make sure I don’t walk into anything!” (We hope so too!)

Wolstenholme, who also works as a personal trainer, played football to a high standard up until suffering a back injury in his early 20’s.  Once recovered, he took to the park to brush up on his skills and has been a freestyle football fanatic ever since!  Matt is currently training five days a week for his latest challenge, showing great dedication and commitment.  “I’m working hard to make sure it all goes smoothly. Lots of practice sessions with the ball, as well as workouts at the gym to make sure I’m fit enough and can maintain my concentration”.

He added:  “I couldn’t have arranged this by myself though, it’s important to thank all the people who helped, especially Wembley Stadium for allowing me to give this weird and wonderful challenge a try.  I can’t wait to get going now, bring it on!”

To make a donation towards Matt’s charity challenge please visit click here > Matt Freestyle and click on the JustGiving icon.

You can also follow Matt on twitter : [@matwolstenholme] and Facebook : [Mattwolstenholme1]

I would like to wish Matt all the very best for his upcoming charity challenge!  You’ll smash it!

20 April 2013 - Scarborough Athletic v Retford United [Set Two]

People have asked us on numerous occasions, are NCOC Scarborough Athletic supporters? Due to there being a number of feature matches involving the club.  Although we have built up a friendship with people involved at the club from Chairman to avid supporters, we remain neutral in our support of any one team. Our aim is to provide some publicity to clubs, players, officials, volunteers and supporters at all clubs we visit.  What Scarborough Athletic have done is ask us to get involved with them, providing photographs.  This applies to any club we can help during the season, so, if you're reading this and support a club that may benefit from a feature on No Clash Of Colours, don't hesitate in contacting us. We will help as much as we possibly can. You can contact us at : fotografica137@gmail.com or leave a message in the InterAction Box at the side > .

The final photographs from what was a momentous day in the history of this football club are those of the supporters. Without the supporters there is no club. Less than six years old, Scarborough Athletic have achieved two promotions from the Northern Counties East League, whilst pulling in healthy numbers, the prospect of moving back to their home town should see the club grow from strength to strength. From our experiences with the club, players, officials and supporters, we wish them all the very best and we hope that the relationship built up between "The Seadogs" and "No Clash Of Colours" will also flourish.

20 April 2013 - Scarborough Athletic v Retford United [Set One]

Competition : Northern Counties East League - Premier Division
Result : Scarborough Athletic 2 Retford United 0
Attendance : 890

What a day! After being asked by Scarborough Athletic Chairman, Dave Holland if we'd like to cover the Seadog's final home match of the 2012/13 NCEL season, we didn't hesitate in accepting and looked forward to our first ever visit to Bridlington Town's ground, Queensgate, the tenant's home since 2007. Knowing promotion would be guaranteed if results went their way, a bumper crowd of 890 turned up with expectations high.

This is the first of two sets of photographs from what was an eventful, emotional and eventually, a successful end to a season where The Seadogs of Scarborough Athletic finally gained promotion to the Evo-Stik League.
